Event description

Information is the key that unlocks our ability to providing government services with better results to the people of California. For decades the storage of information about individuals, their families, where they live, what they drive and countless other bits of information have been gathered in data pools ranging from puddles to huge databases the size of oceans.  This information has been static, duplicated, stored in silos, and maintained in antiquated systems, all leading to a gross underutilization of this critical data. Opportunities exist to be able to deliver services more effectively, collaborate between departments or branches of government, secure sensitive information while still making it available to the programs that need it, detect fraud and abuse, and improve the way that Government makes decisions.  To grasp those opportunities, however, the owners of this “Big Data” must learn how to work with the tremendous resources they have as well as the new tools that are available, leveraging lessons learned from peers and subject matter experts.  Helping to realize this vision is the goal of this forum. At this year’s conference we will explore the management of Government information and that will include:

  • How the management of Information impacts Government decisions and Services
  • How to leverage Information to allow collaboration across Departments, Agencies, and even branches of Government
  • How to protect sensitive information while still being able to access it on a timely basis
  • Policy and procedural changes necessary within programs in order to better utilize Big Data
  • How to analyze Information for better decision making, fraud detection, and service provisioning
  • How to make Information available to the public or workforce using technologies like Mobile devices, Cloud Technologies, and the Internet
  • Effective information management strategies for Disaster Recovery, Information Backup, Data Migration, Master Data Management, and Data Architecture for Big Data stores
  • The role Open Data will play in enhancing Health & Human Services across the State of California
